Woohoo. As of, oh, right now, I have the house officially to myself (well, when I get home from work). No family intruding on my nice quiet stillness. *sigh

When we first moved to WV and a person was giving my dad his address to come fix something on his house. He said, "turn where old farmer John's barn used to be, and we are in the house after the _____'s house"
My dad said, "we just moved here, so we don't know where the barn used to be, or who the ______'s are."
The man, "You don't know the _______? Just the wealthiest people in this darn neck of the woods! Well anyway, take a left where that ol' barn used to be...."
The only thing that I can think of is that it must be a small town mentality thing. Everybody knows everybody and everything, so directions can be given based on this knowledge. But man it's frustrating.
And before 911 came into town (last year and this year) there were no addresses. It was all like HC 86 box 150. or RR 4 box 25. So there were no street names in the rural areas. Pain in the butt. Now it's not so bad because there are road names

Definitly, though it's getting (slightly) better now that people from Northern VA are moving in en masse. They don't like that things close before they can get home from work.
