You know how you can play a game at someone's house and have the best time and come away feeling like that was the greatest game ever - then you play it with your family and you wish the game had included a hammer so you could smash your brains out ( Read more... )

I normally have fun with my family because of that. Mom and I get a good laugh out of scrabble because neither of us can spell, and we both tend to make up words.

But that game does sound kind of in depth... you'd probably hate to play with me. I'd be like, "huh?" the first time around

It doesn't take me long to catch on, but sometimes I get hung up and forgetful.

oh, and you haven't missed any important posts. Everything has just been about me painting the house. And my two newest posts are all about my emotional breakdown today. So. Nothing important.

Well we didn't exactly play by the rules either, and that game has a lot to learn. It may not just have been the right time. If you recall, when we played it, Teri was having a hard time at first, until the first couple of turns.

Also, when everyone is learning for the first time it's different usually than when two people know the game and are trying to teach others. The teachers have a tendency to move a little faster, and often it's frustrating because what seems obvious to them, isn't really to the one's getting taught.

Don't be discouraged :)

Tiff bought that one when she came up here from a store called the Game Parlor. They're the only place around here that has something more extensive than the Milton Bradley collection. I've gotten a few games from there, as it's faster than ordering them online.

If you don't have a brick and mortar game store nearby you can find new games by going to boardgamegeek.com and order most of them from a online retailer such as www.funagain.com

If you're looking for recommendations let us know :)

I'm always looking for games that can be played in groups. Normally when we have people over, there is 8 to 10 of us. Right now it seems like Catch Phrase and Cranium are the only group games that we have. (we haven't broken out the dictionary to play baulderdash yet)
