OH MY GAWD. I LOVE YOU.

It's just. It's just perfect.

I tried to convince him to keep it, once his hand was healed, but he shook his head at me and tapped me on the nose like a good dog.

Sweet man, that Colonel Moran.

So happy to see D'Urberville fic out here. :D

It's amazing how much we want to root for the bad guy. I mean, you don't always want him to get away with those horrible things (only most of the time you do - Looking at you, Stent.) but then you sure as hell don't want him to GO away.

Still in love with it, even though it's over.

I totally agree! I think what Newman does best is balance horror and humor, villainy and immense charm. Even Moriarty, who is exceptional cold in her conception, is sortof likeable, and Moran is hugely likeable! I found myself rooting for them even when they were committing the most horrible acts.

ooh, it's marvelous!

I don't even care that I haven't read this yet, this is so wonderful :D Also the mention of the beard makes me picture the Anderson Moran, which I assume was intentional? :)

Can't wait to get into the book now!

I'm really going to sit down for this book post-Sherlock this week, to help me get over Reichenbach :p I can't wait! And thanks to this fic I'll definitely be picturing the Anderson Moran and the Harris Moriarty, which will make it even more fun, I imagine.

So...yeah. I found this while looking for Hound of the D'Urbervilles fic. I'm trying to fill a prompt on the kinkmeme for Stent/Moriarty, and was wondering--with all the love for this book given Moriarty and Moran in the recent movie--if anyone else had written any fanfic for it.

And this was great! I love how Fifi notices all of the things about Moriarty and Moran that they don't notice about each other. I sort of wish we could see all of the book from Fifi's side of things. And this just struck me as adorable, despite everything that happened:

I was on a train to Brighton, to spend a few days with a spinster aunt before catching a ferry and heading off to Paris and a European vacation. I had my thirty-fifth birthday on a tour of the French Riviera. As a gift to me, he grew his beard out that entire week.

I told you he liked me.

ha! I'm not sure there's a lot of fic floating around, but I, personally, just couldn't help myself.

I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks for reading! :)

Having just finished Hound of the D'Urbervilles I went looking for fic - I was very happy to have been directed to this. (I was weirdly affected by the birthday party scene in the book, what can I say?)

Thanks!
