Which is bullshit, of course. But it's a nice thing to say.
This is especially. That's how I see their entire relationship in any incarnation -- Sebastian is the only person important enough, the only person Moriarty is fond of enough, to do his best to pretend to love. I know when I put it like that it sounds deceitful and false, but I think it's the kindest thing Moriarty is capable of doing, and the fact that he does it when he doesn't need to is lovely.

I agree on Jim-- he's not entirely capable of love, but he's a good actor and he's willing to pretend, to try, for Sebastian. He cares as much as he can. I find it rather sweet.
That Game of Shadows fic was stunning! I'm so glad you shared it with me; ugh, I loved it!

I love Moriarty's insistence that he's dead, too-- it reminds us just how unhinged our favorite psychopath really is. And the ending philosophy on their relationship; great.

(and yeah, I feel like Jim's experience with tears has got to be pretty minimal and pretty strange, like most of his experience with normal human emotion. He's an odd bird that way. Glad it worked for you!)
