The boys were out of town this weekend so Katie and I had a bunch of relatives over for a White Christmas party yesterday. Things got pretty hairy toward the end of the preparations but we pulled it off and everybody seemed to have fun. Katie made lasagna for the first time and I made hot buttered rum which was amazing. I stayed home from work today because I'm weirdly sick. I never fully recovered from whatever crazy cold I had while I was in California, but at work on Friday I started feeling kind of queasy. This week is rather weird because it's the week I would normally be starting school. Thank goodness I'm not! I thought I'd miss it and feel sad and stuff, but it's really more of a relief. I've been living in the city for two weeks now and I've got my first job interview tomorrow, at long last. I found the job on Craigslist and it sounds pretty cool, but it may be a tricky commute since it's somewhere on the North Shore. They didn't specify where, but hopefully it won't be a problem. I just got an epically fantastic seat for the Joanna Newsom show: fifth row, center section, two seats from the aisle on the right side. If you're seeing Joanna, you have to be on the right side unless you want to look at her through the harp and from the right side you can really watch her hands as she plays which is like 67% of the fun of seeing ( Read more... )

I have officially reached maximum excitement capacity. Not only do I get to see Bill Callahan for FREE at the end of the month, but I've just found out that Joanna Newsom is playing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in August! That's going to be pricey, but I am willing to pay a lot of money to get good seats for that.

So there's a 90% chance that I'm moving out some time next month and taking up residence in the Gypsy Hut, also known as the house where my sister lives with a bunch of dudes. I'm pretty excited.
