RL rumble

As I was sopping in Amsterdam yesterday I suddenly noticed something in the corner of my eye. There was a stand, that sold al different kind of scarf’s, I noticed one with 3 cluster roses on it. A closer look revealed that is was actually the 3 cluster rose fabric that is used for Padme´s picnic dress, maybe you can imagine the look on my face! I ( Read more... )

Yeah - I couldn't keep my mouth shut on their thread. Or my livejournal. I agree with completely. gunslingerpadme is starting a new costume group - go check out her last post! ;-)

Also - I have an extra Walmart curtain with the 3 cluster roses on it, that I didn't use. I bought it in case I screwed up my shawl totally. If you want it for a new cape, I would be more than happy to mail it to you. I could put it in a padded envelope and I don't think it would cost very much. If you want it, you can just email or PM me your address. I was hoping it could go to a good home. I also have leftover variagated Sulky thread in that avocado color if you'd like that too. :-)

The RL is really going to regret their ambition. Don’t they realize what costuming is al about? :-(

I would love to buy your Walmart curtain:-) can’t thank you enough! It’s so hard to get the right fabric here. I will e-mail you my adress etc.

I think it's easier to get a uniform look with hard costumes (like armor, stormtroopers) than with soft costumes. I know vacuumforming isn't easy - but people who join the 501st can buy their armor - they don't have to find the materials and make it themselves. We make our own costumes, often on limited bugets, and varying skill levels.

Oh, don't worry about buying it - it's a gift. It wasn't terribly expensive anyway! :-) Just email me your address! :-)

In the future, if there are fabics or trims that you want, but can't get, I'm happy to mail stuff to you. Either you can pay whoever and have it shipped to me, or I can order and you can paypal me or something. I do that for sistersola all the time. She needed these tiny jewelry pieces recently and Fire Mountain Gems wanted $17 to mail them to Canada! It cost me $0.60, or 60 cents to mail them to her! Crazy!

Anyway - I'm happy to help - just let me know. :-)

True. Try to find a complete accurate picnic dress, good luck with that. There aren’t any original padme corset ‘molds’ that you can buy from some German factory, hell, we didn’t even saw the actual picnic dress on display!
The RL just can’t effort to have the same standards as the 501st, but they will notice eventually, with those standards they will have get a hostile feeling over them and people won’t be eager anymore to join the rebellion.

You’re the sweetest, if you need anything from over here in the near future just give me a cal! Shipping costs will also much lower then. I sometimes found it outrageous what amount they ask for shipping. I bought a pair of shinguards once on ebay. The guy wrote on his action that shipping was only $18, in his email it suddenly was $28. He sad he would block my account if I didn’t pay, eventually I didn’t hear anything from him anymore. I actually think they make money on the shipping costs instead of the product itself.

Btw: email is send to padawansguide@gmail:-)

Just posting to say I agree with your post, and it IS a lot easier to put standards on "hard" costumes, because, somewhere out there, there are the molds that made them in the mass numbers. And a lot of the padme costumes ARE guesswork. I would jump up and down in excitment if the picnic gown was on display! I haven't made it, but it's just soooo pretty! Now, if the pastel lake gown was on display somewhere, I'd camp out in front of that display till I hade every last seam caught on both video AND picture. LOL!
