After reading thoroughly and dividing the information between left and right sides...

No matter what:
-the 5 men die
-30 orphans will be saved, tyranny, cans, etc
-the 10 patients will die
-and the kidneys are not a concern
-because the kidneys are not a concern, cancer will be cured and hitler will be born

therefore, either Jones dies or Leftie dies... and if Leftie lives, then the author and the guy who chose the brain to control the tracks lives.

That being said, it's merely a matter of preference.. whether you liked the question, whether you think it was smart to put a brain in control, and which name you like better: Leftie or Jones.

However, I do have to ask.. what if the brain doesn't chose

actually, the author and the brain choosing man will die no matter what, because it's the same 5 men killed. "If the railman on the left side of the track lives, he too will kill five men, in fact the same five that the railman on the right would kill" either way this question is too fucking complicated and i'm glad i didn't have to do it when i was in ethics.

Brilliant! I missed that..

so in answer to this ethics question

which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Or rather, who has the dumber name? Leftie or Jones
