I've watched lots o' movies recently, and again I have failed to write about them immediately after seeing them.

Brokeback Mountain so deserved to win best picture instead of Crash. The film is sparse and realistic, as opposed to annoyingly-trying-to-be realistic. There is no ostentatious camera work, but subtle effects, such as including the

Heath Ledger also certainly deserved to win Best Actor instead of Philip Seymour Hoffman. The triumph of excess over understatement. Bleh.

Maltese Falcon has one of my favorite lines of all time, where Bogie says, "I'll slap you and you'll like it!"
