Let's try another solution

Sooo, some of you may remember my cat woes and Sarge spraying all over the place. We went to the vet who pretty much ruled out anything physical, and recommended some pills and an anti-anxiety pill to take for a bit. Mind you, most of the time the spraying was typical marking, but sometimes it was quite a deluge ( Read more... )

Don't know if this would be of any help, suddenly remembered this being advertised over here after reading of your problems. No idea on availability where you are though: http://www.feliway.com/us/Cat-Behavior/Spraying

Ah yes, I have tried both the spray and the diffuser to no noticeable effect. I'll add that to my post. I'll try the spray again on his favorite spots and see if maybe that'll help this time around.

I would also try Feliway. The vet recommended the "plug-in" variety for me when I mentioned the issues between Rascal, Radar & Charlie. Never did get it, but it's something to try.

I've tried both spray and plug-in, to no noticeable effect, but can try again. :-)

Were you able to try the 'washcloth rub' on his favorite spraying spots? And at the risk of asking a stupid question, is he neutered? (Which I know doesn't always stop cats from being obnoxiously territorial >>.)
I hope the window tint helps!

6' is nothing for cats. Shadow can clear 8' if she's got proper inspiration :p.

I had to look back at a previous post to see what the "washcloth rub" was. Ahm, no, I haven't been doing it. I'll give it a try on one or two of the "trouble" spots but at this point, if I tried to go over every spray spot with a washcloth, I might as well wet the cat down and paint the walls with him. :-)

I wish I had the resources to build Sarge a catio. That might help. Or if he'd put up with a companion, but I think that would make things worse. :-P

My landlord houses her cats in an outdoor run. Basically just a dog run with a fence over the top too. Plus tons of stuff for the cats to hide in or climb on or whatever.
