Uhh, had a somewhat "urgent" doc appointment this morning.
My sinuses have been very unhappy for a while, to the point of blocking half my airway while I'm sleeping (I wear a prescription biteguard at night, so sleeping with mouth open is not on), causing me to wake up and desperately try to clean my nose. My left ear is also acting up, possibly related to sinuses, but not sure. For over a month now, equalizing pressure in my left ear comes with a popping "tink!" sound about 60-80% of the time, always when I sneeze or yawn... or burp... and with an increading amount of discomfort. My eustacian tubes are not happy.
So, doc this morning, yes. She took a look in both ears and asked me if I had ever had drain tubes in my life. "Well, no I haven't. Why?" Apparently I have a fair amount of scarring on both eardrums *and* both eardrums have small holes in them. Fortunately there's no sign of infection or draining, but the *tink* of my left ear popping is driving me to very uncomfortable distraction. Doc put in a consult with the ENT docs and prescribed a nasal steriod and antihistimines to try and reduce the inflammation and/or blockage in my sinuses.
*sighs* It's just not my year for breathing.
I also got my flu shot. Ow.
So, that being done, I went to work. On the way home, I turned on the heat and turned the dial to hit the windshield and smelled a rather strong "rotting leaves" smell, one which has been getting steadily worse for some time. Within five minutes I was wheezing and in noticeable breathing distress so I turned the car around and went straight to the dealership. They cleaned the ducts and changed out the air filter (and I also got my oil changed and tires rotated a bit early since I was already there, yanno?), and I drove home with a car smelling like nice sanitized air and no more wheezing. Too bad that was maintenance, so it wasn't covered in the warranty. *sighs* (And I had my finances pretty much budgeted for the month, too. Ah, well.)
Breathing. It's rather important, yeah?
Sleep now. Family later this week, whee!
