Cicadas

The 17-year cicadas started emerging last night. My front yard has been invaded! I feel kinda sorry for the bluebirds as the oak tree and their birdhouse has nearly hundreds of cicadas and shells all over the trunk and vertical walls of the birdhouse. These guys. :-) They lie dormant for 17 years before emerging and breeding for about a month, repeating the cycle.

Wow, really didn't expect 17 year to be a literal reference to their life cycle. So I'm guessing you get no warning, one day nothing, next day Cicadas?
