Sarge

So, my cat Sarge has been having vomiting issues. We had to take him to the vet just over a month ago due to him vomiting blood one morning. At the time his kidney levels were off, as well. We put him on anti-nausea meds and a prescription diet and he seemed to do better for a while, only vomiting once a week rather than 1-3 times a day. Other ( Read more... )

It must be Cats Must Scare Their Owners time of the month again 8|.

I'm not qualified to diagnose anything, and radiographs are not a specialty of mine, so I don't have too much to add to what the vet already said. Lots of gas in the guts, which doesn't surprise me, but will probably make him very uncomfortable until he lets it loose. Godspeed if you're in the room when he does :p. And yeah that right kidney is teeny! I've seen that in a lot of older cats known to have abnormal kidney values.

Hopefully he'll just have a ew days with GI upset and that'll be that. Keep an eye on him over the weekend, if his gums ever start looking pale, or he acts weak or like he can't catch his breath, he'll need to get back to the ER right away. Chives can cause Heinz body anemia and that's even less fun than gassy tummies and vomiting.

Whoof, indeed. Well, he's back and acting more normal, so I hope it was just a limited thing.

This is why I don't have any live plants in my house anymore. made the horrible mistake a couple of years ago to buy some fresh flowers (lilies) I caught one of my cats eating it, and decided to take all 3 to the ER vet at midnight, just in case all of them got a nibble. Everyone was fine, but after that, no more flowers or plants of any kind in the house. Unless its wheat grass for the kitties. I ever get super weird about onions and garlic when I'm cooking. haha ( ... )

VERY helpful, thank you. I used to have a list of "good" plants whenever I went to the garden center, but people will give me ones that aren't so happy. Ah, well.

Oreo and Sarge are nearly age-mates!

Well, you can see his right kidney is much smaller than his left. In ultrasound, you could really see the difference. Big boy is back home now (in my lap, actually) and we've got some new food from the vet to try.

No arthritis? That's very good news!
