As I do not post often - or possibly functionally ever - it is some indication of how much I care about China Mieville's complaint to Facebook that I am increasing the chance you become aware of it.

I find it ironic that someone is copying a man known for his innovation.

What he's doing, in broad strokes, is saying "I think social networks smell of wee, but please mister social network, help me out here," and stamping his foot.

(Also: Why should a celebrity get faster turnaround than a prole? That's not fair either. Their admin took weeks to get in touch when I talked to them about a real user who had *died*, what gives him the right to jump the queue? It's like the Suity Corridor here, all special an' ting, and I ain't having it.)

So people are only permitted to complain when they like the target of their complaint?

Reducing any message to broad strokes involves removing meaning, so I do not accept your précis as accurate. it could just as easily be reduced to, "You have failed to respond to the private contact methods you have chosen so I am using other methods to highlight my issue".
