Know how I know I am white? I measure ny trip by the number of NPR affiliates I pass through.

My parents always have NPR playing in the car--it's had a major influence on the way I think. Liberal radio and classical music--two basic tennents of my life.

My kids will come out much the same. But hopefully they'll make grocery shopping easier on me. ;-)

What does that have to do with anything, other than being a potentially racist comment?

It's a joke between me and my old team-mate. She's forever trying to get me to like rap (not just hip-hop, which I adore) and approved of the message. I try to get her to listen to NPR rather than just local news. Silly game with silly undertones. Racism would imply that I think I'm superior to her. Not so. She can school me on a lot of topics, and vice-versa.

I think it started with me telling her I only listened to my mp3 player or NPR on the way to work. I told her that there are other stations than Power 92.2. Just went from there. Friendly ribbing each morning.

That has nothing to do with being whiter than white. It has everything to do with intelligence and keeping up with current events. ;-)

See my reply to unbleachedbrun up there. It started as a joke, take off of the "Know how I know you're gay?" bit on Forty Year Old Virgin.
