Take into consideration those who are immobile or the elderly. Plus it's rather difficult to conduct a mass evacuation within a 24 hour period.

Yeah, those who were physically unable to leave were kinda fucked... But, unless their children had em shipped off to Louisana, then they must have chosen to live there earlier on in their lives, and have had many chances to leave before this. As far as i'm concerned, anyone dumb enough to live in a place that gets it by hurricanes every fucking year deserves whatever nature throws at them.

And they had a little more than 24 hours.

i partialy agree with you. they had more than 24 hours the hurrican didn't go *poof* here i am and im gonna trample on you. these things build up and that can be tracked and it probably was too. but it's still sad that shit like this happens. goes to show you should test your defenses before your forced to use them. it would be even sadder if they don't improve after this. all those beautiful building gone.sad.
