I've always been a strong believer in the yin-yang effect. Most of my life, I've found myself on the front between the two halves, never seeing exceptional good or bad. But I still see the balance in most things. Never did I think that both my wildest dream and my worst nightmare could come true simultaneously. I stand in awe. As I delve into ( Read more... )

if I dive into the white, will the black spot do the same?

And will it all turn gray?

Honestly, that's what is surprising me about this part of my life. I used to think that life was shades of gray. But I think that's because I was standing on the border between the light and dark. Some days I'd step into the shadow and other days I'd step into the light, but never so far that I couldn't see the other. What is surprising about my life lately is that I have both black and white at the same time and it's not blending into grey. They are staying as two distinct shades, but are existing simultaneously.

Now, I'm the exact opposite. I've always seen life as black and white and people have gotten mad at me for for not seeing their gray.

I have an ex-girlfriend that was the same way. She always wanted me to classify everything as either good or bad. The closest I was ever able to get was to break the grey down into its component qualities and explain how each is beneficial or detrimental to each of us individually. She also couldn't understand how a bad thing for me could be a good thing for her or vice versa.

I guess my original point was that usually the good and bad in a situation blend together in my mind to make an overall grey tone. In this particular case the dark and light are extreme and almost repel each other like water and oil. They're both there, but they refuse to blend.

Just remember this and everything will become clearer....

All dualities are expressions of the oneness of Tao, the natural way.

So in essence the answer to your original question is a resounding yes.

Within yin there is yang and within yang there is yin. All things posess the seeds of change. Most find this philosophy easy to understand intellectually, but harder to apply it to every day living.

So your wildest dream and worst nightmare both came true, eh? What were they? Just curious, unless it's a state secret or something.

Ying vs. Yang is great for a freshman philosophy class, but I'm an MBA student. I can only think in terms of facts and bottom lines. Universal balance issues aside, is everything cool? You gonna be all right? Anything I can do to help?

Oh, but wait... I thought you just wanted bottom lines. So, you should be satisfied with the fact that they were my wildest dream and worst nightmare. I don't want to bog you down with all the useless details. :P

Sarcasm's unbecoming, old chap. Everyone loves a good story, besides which,

"Something terrible happened the old Mill, Jenna! Just goes to show you the universal constant of Chi has..." makes for a pretty bad "Lassie" episode.
