APUSH books

Anyone care to give their two cents on what book I should read for APUSH this summer?
They are:
Uncle Tom's Cabin
Age of Innocence
The Jungle
Sister Carrie
Main Street
The Grapes of Wrath
All the King's Men
Invisible Man
Going after Cacciato
Feminine Mystique
Silent Spring

I'm leaning towards Age of Innocence, but the major drawback is it's 524 ( Read more... )

I'm reading Sister Carrie, but only because the heroine is an actress and has this guy Heathcliffishly obsessed with her, so I don't know if you'd like it. Age of Innocence seems most like your kind of thing (judging by the Amazon summaries).

you probably don't want to read what i'm reading, but i'm reading invisible man. those of us honors people had to sign up at school, remember? lol i guess they don't care if you all have variety or not, only us.

you probably actually have time to read 524 pages. so read that. unlike i, who has to do too much chem homework and won't even be here starting june 22nd.... ha

Well, I hated Grapes of Wrath (only got in 80 pages) and also Uncle Tom's Cabin (50 pages, with frequent revitalization breaks). I'm reading Silent Spring. It's OK, although not a story, mostly just a list of horrific birth defects you can cause using pollution.

Don't read Grapes of Wrath. I love Steinbeck with all my heart, but that book must die.
WOW! I'M BACK ON LIVEJOURNAL!
