I actually cried a little bit when I heard he had passed and played a small tribute to him ending with his fabulous version or "Georgia on my Mind." I was reminded of an interview with him on NPR over 10 years ago which I heard on a cross-country trip to Chicago. He described the sessions where "Take Five" was recorded. Everyone thought the title was clever except the record exec who feared that the title was too esoteric. It took Brubeck awhile to persuade him that everyone knew what the expression "take five" meant and would appreciated the double meaning of the phrase in the context of the unusual time signature.
