I alphabetized my books once.

I'm upset because I don't have enough space to put my books in order according to size and content.

I, am so cool.

Hey, I'm with you there. I've got two 6-foot cabinets (2 1/2 and 3 1/2 feet wide), along with four much smaller sets of shelving -- and everywhere, the books are shelved two deep, with books in between the rows, and books piled on top, so that on some shelves I can't even cram another one in. Alas, I can't fit another six-footer in here (not without sacrificing my *BED*) so I'm doomed to have crammed shelves for another few years.

The idea of organizing my books by content, beyond the rudimentary level they're at, is kind of a bad joke. :)

And French opera is good! I just made myself copies of Bizet and Poulenc for the car.

hehe, if I had a job I would have so many more books...I don't know where I would put them...but I would have them! I mostly check out books from the library now. They always want them back in a timely manor though, I hate that. I pretty much only buy books now when the library doesn't have them. They didn't have 1984, can you believe that? They had two books on it, but not the book itself.

Well, I have text books, memoirs, fiction, cook books, artbooks, dictionaries, books on grammar, and all sorts of other stuff...it just seems wrong to throw them all together. I think I hang out in the library too much.

Yeah, my only problem with French opera is my lack of French vocabulary. I don't have as much trouble with Italian opera though :)

Also. I have seven boxes of books and no bookshelves. It's terrible.

Still got them boxes 'o book eh? Hum...perhaps you should purchase some slabs of wood, some iron. Then, you could make some shelves! OOh! OOh! *and* you could paint little tiny ballerinas on them. ^-^

Ah, to have enough bookshelves, isn't that every book geeks dream?
*Or is it to have so many books all the time you can never have enough bookshelf space?*

Your not the only one with not enough bookshelf space woes, one of mine broke before we moved! I didn't have enough space before! Now I really don't have enough.

Ah, my dream is to have one of those wall to wall libraries in my house...*sigh*

Ooooo, me too!
A full fledged Library/Study!
Lined with handmade, built-in bookshelves in some dark colored hardwood.
Ah just imagining the smell...
wood and books, books and wood, the smell of wood, stain, paper, ink, a little dust...
maybe a nice wood fire in the winter.
So comforting.

is it bad for someone to work in a bookstore, then come home and feel like they live in a bookstore?
i have 9 bookshelves, 4 of which are secured to walls (so they don't tip). but then i also have 5 display walls for old books and teapots... and other old-woman stuff.
i'm too young to like collecting stuff this much. ;o)
