Soooo I'm looking for 2 bedroom apartments in/around the Albany area for when I go back this year. I know this topic has been addressed once or twice, but I've been out of the country for a year (study abroad wooooo) and I was wondering if any of you nice people could tell me where the non-horrifying places to live are? I just moved to N. Allen and live among a pocket of nicer homes. I'm actually right near Manning and Kent, and have friends living on both those streets. Their apartments seem nice, too (esp. the Manning one). There's a bus stop right at the corner of N.Allen and Washington, as well as one in front of my house (for the 30, though).

The only pain is parking...not in terms of finding a spot, but in terms of remembering to switch the side you park on every night. I got a ticket already b/c I forgot to move my car when I was sick. But, I just found out that Lincoln (once again, a house away from me) only disallows parking on either side one night a week...much better.

Heylo!

If you want to be on the SUNY shuttle line (Western) -- Aim more towards Madison and over it. Avoid side streets because that's where there's a higher concentration of students (party areas). On Washington, aim further uptown.

I do like the downtown areas more, ie Lark and Swan. But personally, I found it to be more uncomfortable because it's a higher exposure to non-student craziness.
