Severely delayed, the first part of my 2010 playlist. Up to March. I'm not in a very good mood so there aren't many descriptions or anything, I just wanted to get it over and done with.

Coptum - Lung Rotter and Seven
Illuminati - Malice Mizer
I don't like most J-rock so I never bothered listening to this band even though I heard so much about them... but it turns out I really like them. Would you look at that. However, I feel like I'm missing something from not being able to understand the lyrics, which is not always the case with foreign bands.
Diplomat's Son - Vampire Weekend
The Man with the Machine Gun - Nobuo Uematsu
I started playing Final Fantasy VIII again and remembered just how much I absolutely ADORE this. I think VIII wins the prize for best battle music because I love this one, the normal theme and the boss theme hugely and equally whereas with all the other games there's always one that I just think is pretty good rather than amazing. I get so excited when entering a battle as Laguna because of this.
This Too Shall Pass - OK Go
Three Thousand - These New Puritans
Stranded in Time - The United States of America
Summon the Sound - S.C.U.M
Thieves in the Night - Hot Chip
I disliked this album as first because I thought nothing could ever live up to Made in the Dark, but after listening to it a few times it began to grow on me. Though I did like this song straight away.
International - Thomas Leer
This is very comforting.
Withnail's Theme - David Dundas
It's always been one of my favourite pieces of music from a film but the performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream made it for me this time.
Fresh - DEVO
Please Turn Me Into The Snat - Connan Mockasin
I waited a year for this album and it didn't disappoint. The only thing I am disappointed about is the huge price of the Crowded House/Connan tour tickets.

GORILLAZ SECTION
Yeah... Plastic Beach in its entirety deserves to be on this list for how much I adore it. However, I must struggle to narrow it down, and therefore I will choose this trio of songs:

Sweepstrakes (feat. Mos Def and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble)
Plastic Beach (feat. Mick Jones and Paul Simonon)
To Binge (feat. Little Dragon)

Despite being so different, these three songs are in this order on the album and somehow seem to fit so well. I think they're all amazing and beautiful and emotive. I can't think of much else to say at the moment I'm afraid.

Team Rocket Themes from Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. I don't know exactly what they're called or anything because the soundtrack I have is in Japanese. I don't know if it's the same as the GBC version. But anyway. Those games are my childhood reinvented into something incredible that still manages to contain all the charm of the original versions, although since they came first I don't think I will ever lose my preference for the GBC ones. But anyway.

And finally... Ravel's Bolero performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. I feel very slow when it comes to classical music. I love it and I have heard so much of it without knowing the names of anything. When I make a discovery like this I feel as though I've come across something new, but of course everyone else has already heard it ages ago. Who cares even a little bit about classical music I mean. But this was very important to me.
