so, i've picked up my old habit, which is my interest in gems and minerals, and in light of the recent show i went to and the one i am going to today, i've been doing some research. i was amazed to discover that a ton of  fake stuff is being sold.

we cannot merely look at the label, or see the words "genuine" or "natural" and be at ease. NO. for ( Read more... )

Fluorescent rocks are highly interesting. The people I'm living with, my uncle, has a book on them and I was blown away reading about them !!

I love citrine. Purchased a necklace of one at some psychic shop in Sedona, which I dismissed having her read me after she said she picked up I was "confident." FAR FROM IT.

I also found some weird rock thing I forgot the name of. It's black with little specks of silver that remind me of the night sky. I FORGOT WHAT THE HELL THE MAN CALLED IT !! He said it was from Michigan, that's all I remember.

arrrgh there is a book on eeeeet???? X_x (i want it! XD) i just found out about this stuff but now i have like... a new hobby? glowing rocks! it's depressing though if you find out that stuff you have that you thought was real ISN'T, because it doesn't glow. :(

these psychic people are usually hacks. at the rock show, i got a buncha tumbled stones from this one shop and while picking them out, i got to hear the lady keep guessing zodiac signs SO wrong. she guessed me 4 times before i finally just told her what i was. well, i guess if you can't be right, you can at least be consistent. lol ;P

i love citrine too. *obsessive clutchy fingers*

if you can get me a pic of it, i could probably tell you what it is or find out for you. :D (i NEVER remember the damn locations things are supposed to be from. gah. you beat me on that totally.)

This. Is friggin' cool. I had no idea that there were different types of amber or that there was a way to tell real amber from plastics and such. And that Dominican amber on the black background glowing blue was NEAT. Blew my mind for a minute there. O_O

Thanks for posting, and look forward to more info in other posts! I may just do some research m'self though....

hope you made it back ok from your crazy family drinking happy holiday FL vacation thang. ;]

it is amazing how much stuff you can find on the internetz nowadays. @__@

i often look up stuff like this and i just thought, 'HEY! if i assemble my findings in LJ posts, i won't have to re-look up stuff again and maybe someone else will find it interesting too.'

fyi i looked up pics on malachite after we'd talked about it, and there is some gorgeous stuff out there that almost made me wonder if all the beads and everything else is fake. (it isn't, i think i just saw an exceptional piece. see the one below. aaaaaaaaarghhhh *covets!!!*)
