I finally finished reading John Saul's "Nathaniel."
You might remember it was that book whose cover terrified me when I would see it in book stores as a child. It took me several months to read it, not because the book was slow or boring, but just because I've been lazy about making myself read. It is actually a very good book! Happy birthday, dad.
This week we celebrated my father's 69th birthday. While we were over at my parents' house we looked at a book of old photographs from throughout my childhood. It really struck me how much I now look like my father when he was my age. To me he has always just looked like my dad, but now it's like I'm looking at photos of another me. It is strange. A friend of mine whom I grew up with in church recently posted on Facebook about an old videotape we were made to watch repeatedly in Youth Group entitled Hell's Bells. Songs of September
September is here, and to welcome it I enlist the aid of SJ Tucker and two songs off of her excellent Wonders album. To be fair, these songs are actually about a fictional character whose name is September, but I think they capture the enchantment and potential of the beginning of autumn very, very well.
