OMG! I read this book when I was 14 when it first came out in paperback (dating myself there lol). It was my introduction to John Saul and he became one of my favorite horror novelists. I actually still have the original paperback (yellowed with age on my bookshelf) that I bought in the grocery store all those years ago.

I always found Saul one of those writers who are sneaky and subtle in his writing. He's never been an in your face writer say like Stephen King (I love him also, but for different reasons). Saul writes about families, the skeletons in their closets, and how the mistakes of the past have dire consequences for the future.

Now I want to pull that paperback out and revisit one of the stories that inspired me to write. *squee*

I never make time to read any more. I've decided to finally read, or in some cases reread, a classic novel or two. I'm currently reading Moby Dick & Tom Sawyer(again). I now read about Tom with a lot of nostalgia as opposed to the sense of envy I felt when reading it as a child.
