Smile and grin at the change all around me. Pick up my guitar and play, just like yesterday

Before I begin a question for you;

If you had to choose one, and only one, musical artist or band to represent your musical tastes who would it be? I’m mapping out my musical library not only what I have - but what I need to add and am looking for reminders of what I’ve overlooked. True - Pandora and other streaming services are awesome. They’ ( Read more... )

Ack! Only one musical group to represent my musical tastes? That's tough as my musical tastes span many genres. But I'll play along. Stevie Ray Vaughan. (Ask me tomorrow, and my choice might be different. And the day after that....) What's yours?

Yeah, the stock market sucks. I remember the downturn in the 90's, grabbed my ulcer and held on after 9/11 (I estimate my on paper losses then to have been about 40%), and then again in 2008... And sometimes there's just dumb bad luck. Bought British Petroleum two weeks before the well blew up. My advice: Close your eyes and hang on!

I’m not sure either, however I’m always on the look out for something new to appreciate. If I were to say any one act right now it would probably be R.E.M.

If you ask me after lunch though it could be someone different.

~sigh~ I know. Looks like we’ve been slapped with the Chinese proverb and are living in interesting times. At least we have a few decades.

Ouch on BP. I’m sorry. Is it back up yet?

Nope, worse than it's ever been. But I sold it when it was considerably higher than it is now ~ still at a significant loss. If they'd reinstated their dividend as it was when I bought it, I'd have ridden it out, but the huge decline in value, no dividend, then a paltry dividend was too much. However, while their dividend is still down, it appears it's come up a bit since the first of the year.

Actually, if I had any cash lying around, now would be the time to buy BP. :-)

Only one band?! Eek! No idea... this week... maybe Linkin Park :)
Last week it was Glee... no idea what it'll be next week :)
I'm guessing yours would be REM? Or something else now since the break up?

It's funny though, no matter how horribly stuck we've gotten with Oracle issues at work, we've always persevrered and sortted it out ourselves - the idea of having to phone the help desk sounds just too painful. :)

the idea of having to phone the help desk sounds just too painful.

Usually it is.

On more then one occasion they've said to me " Wait a minute. How did you did you do that again?"

Only one to *represent* my musical tastes? Jeez! That's a tall order.

I guess if I had to say just one I would probably say Peter Gabriel. Start with the album "Us" if you go to listen.

Oh that smartphone sounds good...let me know. I'm out of my contract in August and definitely want to upgrade.

Hahaha! Calling Oracle is always a *blast*. My socks are knocked off if I actually get a resolution. They usually just keep dinging me to send more log files/extracts/code in hopes that I go away.

Then they tell me that they don't have a fix and they've submitted it to their development team for a future release.

Well ya know I already have burnt his "Shaking the Tree" ( greatest hits) & "So" albums. I'm not sure what's on "US" yet but will take a look.

I remember the old Genesis and can't help wondering what's waiting out there for me to find.

If there's anyone that I talk to about my next phone its likely to be either your or Mo. :<)

Oracle sucks its a bad, baaaaad way.

"Shaking the Tree" was released in 1990 and "Us" came out in 1992 so none of those songs are on there.

An aside...I have a picture from 11/16/1973 (my birthday) of Genesis on stage singing at one of their concerts. PG is playing drums and Phil Collins is singing with a (mostly) full head of hair. It was hanging up downstairs...maybe you've seen it.
