Super bowl

Well my team won :) not really my team as that's the poor Jets but the team I wanted to win as various friends support them. How I wish however that it was on a Saturday night instead because it totally kills me getting to bed at 3, then not being able to sleep because I'm buzzing about the match and then having to get up for work ( Read more... )

Because all NFL matches are on a Sunday.

I believe that the tradition in the US is that "amateur" college football (which is very big) is on Saturday and professional NFL football is on Sunday.

Don't know how that started though. Maybe the NFL teams didn't want to compete with the college teams.

The worst refereeing ever. I mean the calling was as bad as the Pittsburgh v Colts game actually it was worse. Both teams have very underated defense which is why they made it to the bowl so it was never going to be a bengal v colt stlye shotout (also who said the steelers was one of the top 2 offense?). Was it just me but were any of you stumped on who to give MVP at the end of the game? (Hasselbeck was the only player to be solid for most of the game.)I was impressed with big ben's ability though to make "must make plays" however he was less than impressive for pretty much everything else. Ward did not deserve the MVP he did make two good catches but they were cancelled out imho with all the easy/key catches he missed.

As for the game being on Sunday it has alot to do with college vs pro and more to do with the fact that Sunday is a day for putting the feet up allowing for 6hrs of footie to be watched. Also time difference means it isn't as crazy bad to watch the event in america:P

The refereeing was bad, I didn't think you could say Big Ben went over for a touchdown, it seemed very dubious to me and the straight arm push off by Jenkins, not a chance.

I did wonder why Ward got MVP, he didn't seem to do much of anything apart from one straight forward catch.

This is mostly to say hello,
I found your LJ and I hope you are who I think you are ...

Also I will your question.

Superbowl is on a sunday so that Americans get another day of work Super Monday. It's basically accepted to be "ill" on Super Monday by a lot of companies.

Anyway ... Hello.
