Author's Note: Okay so…I get a little nervous when I'm writing Erica, despite how much I absolutely adore her character. I did my best, so hopefully I was able to capture her voice in this short little ficlet. This takes place in an imaginary world where Addison moves back to Seattle, hooks up with Erica (who I'm pretending works back at her old hospital), and they live happily ever after. I hope you all enjoy. Let me know what you think! Happy Holidays!

Addison balanced the dessert platter on her arm as she attempted to fit her key into the lock. She gleamed triumphantly as she heard the metallic grind of teeth as the key fit inside the tiny, rectangular slot. As she twisted it, her heavy purse slipped from her shoulder and felt into the crook of her elbow, throwing her body off balance. The tray teetered dangerously and began to slip and Addison quickly maneuvered her body until the purse fell against her forearm and the tray was caught at the last possible second before toppling onto the floor.
She kicked at the door with her leather boot. "Babe? Can you open the door?"
"Where are your keys?" a voice called back, distant and muffled.
"Juggling a few things here!" Addison cried, wriggling her shoulders in her attempt to move back the purse. The tray, which she had pressed against the door frame for support, tilted slightly to the side. Addison gave a huff and slowly released her arm, allowing the purse to fall to the floor while she straightened her body and re-balanced the platter in her arms. She turned the key and, after a bit of twisting of her wrist, managed to push the door open. "Never mind," Addison said, pushing her purse into the apartment with her foot before closing the door behind her. The Birkin tipped over, scattering its contents all over the wooden floor.
"I was just about to come help you," Erica said, standing at the entrance of their small living room.
Addison pursed her lips and raised an eyebrow. "Well, since you're a little late for that, I wouldn't hate it if you picked up my five thousand dollar purse off the floor."
Erica rolled her eyes. "That thing should be on display, not used everyday if you're that worried about it getting a little dirty."
Addison pouted.
With another eye roll, Erica began to walk towards the upturned purse, only to nearly lose her balance as the string of Christmas lights around her foot tugged her leg and held her in place. "God dammit," Erica muttered, glaring down at her constraints.
Addison laughed, hurried into the kitchen, and dropped the dessert platter onto the counter. She rushed back to Erica, shrugging her coat off in the process. She took Erica's arm and led her to the couch, draping her coat over the back of the sofa before bending to untangle her partner's foot from the green cord of lights.
"I take it you didn't get too far with decorating the tree?" Addison asked, pulling Erica's foot free. She soothed her fingers over the screaming red mark around her ankle.
Erica gave an exasperated sigh and flung her hands carelessly into her lap. "I tried. Really I did. Christmas hates me."
"It does not hate you."
"I should have become a damn Buddhist."
Addison laughed and wrapped her arms around Erica's waist. "Awe, but if you had done that, we wouldn't be spending our first Christmas together."
Erica begrudgingly smiled. "You're right."
"I know I'm right."
"You're also covered in snow." Erica brushed her fingers through the redhead's damp hair, shaking loose the little bits of snow that had not yet melted into the silky locks. "How's the storm?"
"It's coming down pretty hard." Addison got to her feet and sat beside Erica on the arm of the couch. She looked at the tree, half covered in lights, and chuckled to herself. "Tomorrow's gonna be a mess."
"Maybe we'll get lucky and no one will want to come to our little soiree tomorrow night."
Addison nudged Erica with her shoulder. "Hey…it'll be fun. You, me, twenty of our closest friends and acquaintances…delicious baked goods that I'll pass off as my own…your orgasmic honey ham…It'll be great."
Erica frowned, staring at the haphazard box of decorations that had yet to be put on the tree. "Great. Right."
"Don't you think?" Addison asked, noting the stilted tone on her lover's lips.
Erica paused, biting her lip. She looked at her nails. "Is Callie coming?"
Addison suddenly understood Erica's misgivings. "She RSVPed, yes."
Erica sighed and then held up a defensive hand. "Don't think this is about lingering feelings or anything because it's not. I just…don't you think it's weird that your best friend is my ex?"
"It's only weird if we make it weird." Addison glanced over her shoulder at the bag of Christmas stuff on the couch cushion and pulled out a headband with reindeer antlers attached. She slipped it onto her head and paused until Erica finally looked at her and laughed. Addison gleamed at her ability to diffuse an awkward situation. She took Erica's hand up in her own and kissed her knuckles. "If it gets weird, just take my hand. I'll be there the whole time."
"It will be weird. These are your friends, not mine."
"They're your friends too."
"They were not my friends. Callie was my friend. She was the only one that counted."
"I'm your friend…"
Erica gave a sad smile. "Yes, you are."
"What about your friends from Seattle Presbyterian? Didn't they RSVP?"
"A few…" Erica laughed. "It'll be the great divide. You know how cliquey everyone at Seattle Grace is. I'll have to entertain my people, you'll have to entertain yours, and that means I'll be on my own. Hope you remembered the wine."
Addison reached back and grabbed another pair of antlers, placing them on Erica's head. She kissed Erica softly. "Not this Christmas. This is our first Christmas together…our first big get-together since I got my job back at Seattle Grace. I want this to be special. That's what's important about this whole silly shindig…it's about you and me…not about them."
Erica tipped her forehead against Addison's. Their antlers touched. "I'm trying to get into the Christmas spirit for you."
"Oh no! Don't do that!" Addison admonished. "I still want you to be you."
Erica snorted. "Cute."
"I'm downright adorable and you know it." The redhead pressed a long, gentle kiss to Erica's mouth. "I love you for trying."
"Only for you."
"Now…why don't you put some Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton on the stereo and I'll make us some cocoa and we'll decorate this bad boy together?"
"And afterwards I choose what we do," Erica added.
Addison grinned, know full well what her partner was suggesting. "Anything you want."
Erica smirked. "Let's get started then." Erica stood and stretched, glancing into the main hall. "We forgot your five thousand dollar bag on the floor."
Addison cast a glance in the direction of the sad-looking black purse and straightened her antlers. "Some things are more important," she replied, pressing a kiss to Erica's smiling mouth.
