Author's Note: I know I always get nervous when I'm writing in a new fandom, but I am particularly nervous about this one because Susan is such a complicated character. Every time I watch Plenty I notice something different about her, which just makes character analysis that much more difficult. I do, however, love the subtexty goodness between Susan and Alice in the film and was really happy to have the chance to explore it in this request. Please let me know what you think! Enjoy!

When Alice presses her mouth against an expanse of smooth, pale thigh, she thinks finally.
She's been waiting for this for what seems like her entire life, though the reality would suggest it's lasted for only a year or two at most. Alice has never wanted anyone for this long. It's been her prerogative to love who she wants, when she wants, before she moves on to someone more fascinating and complicated. She enjoys the games and the seduction and the conquest.
Susan has always been unattainable, different. Alice has never wanted to win Susan's affections; she's wanted them simply to be given to her. Alice is scared to actually consider the circumstances that brought Susan to her bed, so she doesn't and instead nibbles at the tender flesh of her inner thigh. Susan exhales sharply and Alice hides her grin with another swipe of her tongue.
Alice inhales Susan's husky, heady scent and feels better than high. She should bottle it and sell it; she'd make a bloody fortune. But even the idea is mad; Alice doesn't want to share this with anyone. She wants to keep it all for herself, wants it to belong to her forever. She savors and takes her time exploring Susan's body, which is not something she's particularly keen on doing with lovers. She's always been so hungry and greedy for pleasure that she often forgets to maximize it-she takes what she can as quickly as she can. She admits to being a selfish lover; her priority has never been focused on the giving so much as the receiving.
She shifts on the bed and prepares to taste of Susan for the first time. The very thought of it is intoxicating and knowing that she will actually do it after so many years of longing is enough to make her feel completely drunk. She suspects Susan will taste better than whiskey and beer and as Alice tentatively presses her tongue against the delicate folds of Susan's sex, she discovers that she was right.
Alice casts a curious glance up Susan's body. The sight of her quivering stomach and heaving breasts takes her breath away, but what Alice wants most is to see the look of pleasure on Susan's face. She wants to see her caught up in passion - it's the one expression Alice has not yet seen. She's memorized every mannerism, every smile, every stare. She wants to be the cause of making Susan come undone. She wants to commit that to memory and keep it with her always.
When Alice's eyes meet Susan's face, her heart plummets and the taste of Susan's arousal becomes bitter on her tongue.
Susan's eyes are focused, as always, on the window.
Alice is usually fairly patient when Susan's attention drifts, but this is too much. "Hey," Alice says, pulling back slightly. "Where are you?"
Susan's head turns and her glassy eyes connect with Alice's. "I'm here. I'm right here." She licks her lips and smiles blandly, shifting her body as if to remind Alice what they're in the midst of.
Alice knows that Susan isn't here. She never is - there's always somewhere else that she'd rather be. Her commitment to Alice is half-hearted, as is her commitment to everything else in her life. No matter what opportunities arise for her friend, Alice knows that Susan is always looking for something more. Maybe that's what makes Susan so appealing - the fact that no matter how hard she tries, she will never truly have her.
Even though Alice lowers her head and begins to make love to Susan, suddenly she doesn't want to be here anymore either.
