Author's Note: Sometimes these prompt lists for fic challenges are so overwhelming and so full of good ideas that it’s hard to choose. Thankfully, I requested that my pal choose one for me, and this was the first idea that came to mind. I kinda like Danny/Liz, but my heart belongs to Jack/Liz fo’evah. Let me know what you think!

Danny had always thought he was a pretty smart, observant guy, but he had to wonder if his being Canadian had anything to do with how slow he had been on the whole Jack/Liz uptake. It wasn’t a hard conclusion to come to; his heritage could often be blamed for most of his inadequacies, of which there were few (he really loved sarcasm now that he understood it).
Now that Jack had actually let him in on his feelings for Liz, Danny was amazed that he had never picked up on it before. It was so blatantly obvious. He’d always sort of thought that Liz had a thing for her boss, but he never would have guessed that Jack felt the same way. From what he understood about Jack and his taste for women, Liz was the exact opposite of what he liked. It was totally obvious that Danny had assumed incorrectly.
He sat back in the audience chair, propping his feet up on the railing in front of him. He wasn’t in the Julia Child sketch (even though he knew he would make a way better Julia than Tracy), so he got comfortable and studied the people before him. He knew he could have picked up a thing or two from the actors on stage, but he was focused on Jack and Liz.
Danny could have kicked himself for never realizing that there was something between them. He watched as Jack smiled down at Liz while she showed him a page of rewrites, noting specifically that she leaned her body slightly into his while he pointed out something on the page.
Danny wondered which salad dressing Liz smelled like that day and momentarily hated Jack for being close enough to find out.
He also hated Jack when he leaned forward and unbuttoned Liz’s sweater. Danny’s eyes bugged slightly and he flashed a glance to the stage, to everyone around them, to see if they had noticed that Jack Donaghy was undressing Liz Lemon in the middle of rehearsals. No one paid attention but Danny. He sat forward in his chair, draping his arms on the railing while he rested his chin against the cold bar. He squinted at the pair and realized that Liz had misbuttoned her sweater and Jack was merely fixing it.
Three days ago, Danny would have thought nothing of it, but he knew better now.
Only a man in love would do something like that.
It had sucked a bit to lose his secret make out buddy, but what kind of friend would he be if he stood in the way of what was clearly true love? Danny reckoned that he did a pretty great thing by no longer being the middleman. Maybe now they would actually stop biding their time with random people and get together.
He realized then that perhaps Liz had used him, but who was he to sulk? He got to make out with the hot boss lady for a few days. Acknowledging that their fun was over made him sulk all the more. He couldn’t understand why he wasn’t happier for the two of them.
He rolled his eyes at himself and looked back at the stage, where Tracy was dramatically waving a cleaver and swigging from a bottle of wine. Danny clearly still had a lot to learn.
