I don't understand how that would fix the OP's problem. ETA 2: Unless you're suggesting it as a way to get around the spam filter. In which case, oops my bad, and carry on. :)

OP: Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do until the mods get back to you and change the settings of the comm. LJ has decided that any link outside their small, arbitrary whitelist is spam in an attempt to combat actual spam, and they aren't backing down.

ETA: I didn't finish my train of thought. Comm mods can edit the comm settings to not screen links, however that requires active mods. AFAIK, however, the comments do still get sent to the poster's email, so the person you're helping is still getting the links, I think.

Have you tried directly contacting the mod? Via PM or something, which would go direct to email? I don't think (s)he's particularly active otherwise.

I tried via the LJ built in thing, but I can't even seem to figure out who the mod actually is to do a direct message
