I'm officially unemployed for the first time in years.

I kind of like knowing I don't have to get up in the morning.

You've been working extremely hard over the last 8 or so years, CJ. You deserve the unrestricted time off. Enjoy it as much as you can and let me know if there's anything I can do (kicking Sam out of the office early, bringing over take-out, etc.) to help.

Thanks, Cathy.

I'm actually not sure how well this time off thing's gonna work for me. I got up, I ate breakfast, read the paper and then... nothing. It's a strange feeling.

Give yourself time to get used to it. Look at it this way: you can go shopping during the day and not be as rushed as you would be if you were doing it during your lunch. You can get a really nice manicure & pedicure and not have to worry about smudging your polish. You have the time to stay in the salon until it dries.

Once you get used to it, you'll enjoy yourself. Until then, let yourself do 'guilty pleasure' things: take a nap in the middle of the day, watch a soap opera while working on a pint of Ben & Jerry's, things like that.

Oh, once I start shopping, I don't think retail America's going to know what's hit it.

For now, I'm absolutely horrified by daytime television, although napping's something I could absolutely get used to, and Ben, Jerry, and I are becoming fast friends.

Yeah, most of daytime TV is the worst kind of dreck. There is the occasional good documentary on PBS or a classic 80's movie on TNT though.

Ben, Jerry, and I are becoming fast friends.
You might want to widen your circle to include Häagen-Dazs and Edy as well.

I discovered hours of stuff on my TiVo that I'd forgotten about. I think voluntary unemployment calls for a Redford marathon.

Possibly. Little Debbie's a good one to know too.

Wow, CJ. That sounds odd coming from a woman of your stature and intelligence. I know how relaxing as hell it is though.

Well, Besides taking my little brother to school in the morning, I know what you mean. It is a very food feeling.

It feels odd saying it, honestly.

Maybe I'll drop by for lunch one of these days too.

So, the unemployment thing? Kinda gets old after a while...but enjoy it while you can :)

Are you in town or in sunny nice, pretty, not DC California? Because if you are, I need caffeine and well, you need decaffeinated lattes with whip cream and chocolate or something.

I have a feeling by the end of this month I'm either going to be sending resumes to anyone and everyone or sitting Sam down and explaining that we really do need to switch to joint accounts because I have no intention of ever working again and I need socks. I'm still entirely unsure which way I'm leaning.

I'm in town. There's actually a lot to do to get ready to move. I need to check in with Hogan, but I wanted to go up to Boston sometime before we leave, too. It looks like we're sticking around for a few more weeks. Coffee sounds like a plan. WHat's your schedule look like?
