I decided a week or so ago that I wanted to learn to knit. I saw a woman on Metro working on this absolutely gorgeous little hat, and I figured, you know, I can do that. I asked her if it was hard to learn, and told me it was really easy, and relaxing ( Read more... )

Step away from the needles, CJ. I'll bring crochet hooks over and teach you how to do that. Much, much simpler than knitting. Only one thing to use and no casting on/off of anything. Unless you're making an afghan, that is, but it's too soon for you to know how to do that.

I like the idea of knitting though. Somehow it doesn't sound as cool to say "I'm taking up crocheting." Also, the things I actually want to make, I think they need to be knit.

Most of the things that are knitted can also be crocheted. Also, you can't knit lace, but you can crochet it. If you get too frustrated with the knitting, let me know. I'll keep a set of hooks on standby for you.

Also, if you don't mind, I'd like to know your shoe size.

I don't give up that easily, you realize. I may gouge an eye out here or there, but I'm going to figure it out if it kills me.
