The goal of an infiltration and rescue mission is to attract as little attention as possible. Get in, get out. Stay alive. The Sound complex/Sand palace is a rigid and foreboding in appearance, but once in, there are a lot of dark corners and sharp turns to hide behind.
I did alright. A couple small scrimages, but no serious injuries except for a big cut on my arm. I didn't have a map so I can only chalk up my movements as pure dumb luck that I got there first. I'm sure that I could have FOUND it eventually on my own. I was headed into the right building, after all.
And then he showed up with that damn insufferable mocking smile. It wasn't because he knew who he was, but because of my surprise. That and for the pure fact that Yakushi Kabuto is an asshole, through and through. He really is a smug, self-absorbed, scum-sucking worm for how he follows Orochimaru. I never liked him, even when we were in that forest together.
Event the way he greeted me was annoying. "Et-hem. Are you lost? You seem it."
No. I wasn't lost. I was doing fine until his ugly mug showed up. But depsite my personal dislike for Kabuto, I smiled. I had the advantage. I knew a little bit about his techniques and I doubt he had time to check his cards to see what was Sushi-san's abilities. Even if he did, he was in for it, since my jutsus are obviously quite different from that hack, Sushi. He was rather arrogant for a jounin, but not very guarded when it came to women. So it wasn't that easy to steal his mission papers and get him drunk enough to not remember where he was or what he was assigned and dump him in the forest where he would be lost for days before getting back to the village.
Anyways, back to the story. Doctor Sawbones was going on..blah blah blah...Something about "Unlike Leaf nin, we sound nin value our silence, rather than barging in like a heard of bloody elephants." Yeah, well not my fault Naruto is the loudest ninja on the continent. Sakura is coming in second with her wall-crushing attacks, but atleast that's useful.
He came at me, throwing what I thought were needles at first before I remembered his specialty: chakara scalpuls. So that was how he wanted to fight. I dove intot he dust and rolled, evading but two of them glanced me. It seemed we were going to try to make this long distance for the moment, seeing what the other would do. I sent kunai after kunai at him. He countered and sent his barage, forcing me to step backwards. Then I decided to change the pace. I lunged forward and we clashed.
"Are you going to fight or are you just going to keep throwing your toys?" I taunted. I had to admit he was really pissing me off at this point. Everytime I would attack, he would retreat and would duck into another turn. What was he planning? Was he leading me into a trap?
He grinned and I considered ripping his teeth out. My mark burned. "Tell me something. Are you here to free the Sand from our 'ruthless opression' or are you here for another, more pointed reason?"
I scowled, wondering if he was on to me. "What are you talking about? A mission is a mission. And if you're just here to chat, you can get out of my way. I'm in a hurry."
"I would, but you see," He jabbed at me as we continued our discourse. "I have to make sure you don't go where we don't want you to go... Like behind this door over here." He nodded his head towards it. But I wasn't really paying attention. I was...performing seals. He was in for a surprise.
Pursing my fingers together, I raised them to my lips and blew. Out came the flames, billowing and spiraling into a concentrated ball as they flew down the narrow passageway toward him. A surprise Katon no jutsu. His eyes bugged as he barely managed to evade (to my dismay), though I suspect he was rather crispy. It was dim so I couldn't really make out the extent of my damage.
But as usual, that sickening grin appeared on his face. "Good luck, Sasuke-kun." He said before vanishing in a poof of smoke to my greater annoyance.
I growled and hit the wall, before turning my attention to the door he had been guarding. Surprisingly it was unlocked and untrapped. Swinging it open I looked inside. I can't believe that bastard had helped me. I won't admit it...I won't.
Kankuro looked like a lump in the darkness. I couldn't even tell he was human at first. He was in bad shape. Shit. And I thought his face was scary before.
Temari...she looked dazed. And cold....and thinner. Jackal, what did they do to you...She didn't trust me at first. I had to drop my disguise but...It had looked like something was missing from her eyes. I hoped she would be alright once we got out.
I really just wanted to hold her...but it wasn't safe...I'm also worried about explaining myself and possibly my feelings later. [/Private]
[Private to Kabuto]
I'm not going to admit it, but THANKS. There, I said it. Don't treat it like its anything special.
[/Private to Kabuto]
Temari...don't worry so much about Gaara. He's fine and can take care of himself. Try to get some rest. Sakura can look to Kankuro.
