Insanity, Day 39

Feb 23, 2011 20:38

I felt a lot better today. My body is slowing adapting to these more intense workouts. My back still felt a little stiff, and my legs were a little sore, but for the first time since I started the second month, I didn't feel like an old man.

There are two main differences from the first month to the second month: first, the workouts are longer (first month workouts were about 30-40 mins long while the second month are about 50-60 mins long); and the second, there's a lot more upper body stuff in the second month while the first month seemed to have more jumping exercises. Or it could be there's the same amount of jumping exercises, but there is definitely more upper body stuff, i.e. more push up and plank variations.

Today was Max Recovery. This was definitely not like Cardio Recovery from the first month. This one really made you sweat buckets. As I was laying on my carpeted floor covered in sweat while taking a break from an exercise, I was thinking to myself, "this is considered a Recovery Day?" I was getting pretty gassed on this "Recovery Day."

The toughest part of the second month is not knowing the routines. Yes, the workouts are longer and seem more intense, but it's not knowing how to do them is what is really causing me problems so far. In that sense, it is very much like the first week when I didn't know any of the routines and these workouts were more intense than anything I've done. As I adjust to the second month, I know that I will have to increase the intensity. I can't just sit back and do the routines at a leisurely pace. By midweek of next week, I should be through the learning process.

39 days down.
