INPATIENT MEDICINE.

I start going back to Inpatient Rounding next week after a hiatus lasting for more than a year. Pretty nervous. It's been awhile, and there's a lot to relearn. Inpatient rounding has always been a mixed bag. It's frightening, yet exciting. Mostly stress inducing, but empowering during times.

My job is weird, where I do OB and Peds rounds, but use hospitalists for the adults. Now that I've been out of residency for a year, I wonder if I would ever be able to get back into adult inpatient medicine if I needed to.

That IS kind of weird. You do OB and Peds Rounds, but not adults? I know, I wouldn't be comfortable doing OB or Peds, but I think you get good at whatever you practice. It just depends on how long you've been doing it. I'm sure though to be honest, if you wanted to get back into adult inpatient medicine, you could. It's just a matter of getting adjusted again.
