Angel had almost considered getting a hold of Gunn and getting him to go along with Buffy instead of himself. However, he had finally decided to go along with her for now. It wasn't like the day could get much worse, could it?
While Buffy certainly had some opinions about the tunnel, Angel barely noticed the stench. Even though his sense of smell was stronger than hers, he was used to it from having to use them to trek around through the day. They were a little nastier than Sunnydale's sewers, but it accommodated a larger city.
He cocked his head to one side, listening. "There's nothing anywhere near here. Nothing that we're looking for, anyway." This was a wild goose chase.
Buffy let out a sigh, following along behind Angel. She doubted there would be much trace of Faith or Spike in the sewers since they'd gotten away in a car. Plus, they might be holding up somewhere above the sewer or in the sewer, so it never hurt to try.
She watched him listen hard, "What about smell? I mean, all I can smell is, well, sewer."
He nodded, pausing to listen for a minute. After a minute, he sighed, sounding frustrated. "The only thing I smell, other than the obvious, is a couple of demons about a mile away that, while we can vent some frustration on, won't actually do us any good right now."
"Wouldn't say no to some frustration venting," Buffy said, "Especially since I can't do it in the much more pleasant way." She chewed on her lip. Even if she and Angel weren't exactly getting along, she knew that some make-up sex would probably cure whatever was bothering them...if they could actually utilize it. Which they couldn't. Ever.
