Hurm. This is one of those mysterious expressions of the English language. Perchance it has something to do with Ye Olde Englande. Maybe during the time of Billy Shakes, pots and kettles were similarly black due to the soot and cinders from the fireplace or whatever it is they use to cook and stoke fires.
So then the pot criticizing the kettle black would be like... a round-aboot loop thing. Like hypocrisy. Only in the kitchen. And between two inanimate objects.
The English language is vair mysterious and full of secrets.
