Title: Private Practice
Pairing: KoDa (Koki/Ueda)
Rating: G
Genre: Fluff I think
Disclaimer: RPF. You know the drill.
Summary: It was cold and cloudy, but Ueda went outside anyways. He had had enough of being alone, and he was bored. Koki was wet, and that’s all there is to it.
A.N: Because they’re cute, and because it’s raining.
It was cold and cloudy, but Ueda went outside anyways. He had had enough of isolation, and he was bored. He guessed that the others were staying indoors; Kame taking the opportunity to get naked and soak in a hot bath, Nakamaru diligently studying or practicing beat-boxing, Taguchi being Taguchi, and Koki…well, doing things which he was inclined to do.
The rain had stopped for a while, but Ueda guessed it would fall down again in a couple of hours or so, and remembered to bring an umbrella with him.
Just one step outside and he already slipped, barely saving himself. He muttered vehemently about shoes and questioned its true contribution to mankind.
The clouds shifted slowly above him, and his shoes made squishy sounds with each step he took on the wet ground. Hood covering his head and one hand jammed inside his pocket while the other dragged his umbrella, he walked insouciantly, observing around as he did.
Ueda let his feet take him wherever they pleased, and they decided to make a pit-stop at a cafe a few blocks down his apartment.
There were a few patrons sitting comfortably, taking shelter from the cold he guessed, sipping their warm drinks and chattering with one another.
It had begun to drizzle with rain again outside.
He stared at the menu hung above the counter and scanned the long list of beverages.
“What would you like to drink sir?” The girl behind the cash register asked.
“A moment please.”
The front door opened loudly with a thud, the bell jingling violently. Ueda turned around without much interest, his elbow resting on the counter.
Koki wagged his head, water droplets shooting in erratic outbursts from his hair, and he ran his fingers through the mane, pulling it back. “What a sudden downpour,” he mumbled.
He swaggered next to Ueda in his usual way of walking. “Oh, Ueda. Nice seeing you here.”
Ueda nodded.
“What a bummer. My clothes are all wet now.”
“I can see that.”
“The sky should have set some kind of warning before throwing up like that.”
Ueda chuckled. “I guess so. But seeing the rain going off and on for a few days now, you should’ve known better.”
Koki blinked. Then he shrugged, “You’re right.”
“So, have you made up your mind yet?” The girl spoke again, blushing a little, which showed she knew who they were.
“Regular coffee.” Ueda and Koki said in unison. The girl stared, a little startled.
Both men shared a glance out of the corner of their eyes, then laughed.
“Two regular coffees please,” Koki repeated, still smiling as he did.
They sat in the back area, trying hard to not get recognized, and sat down with contented sighs.
The wasps of heat coming out of their drinks were visible, and Ueda set it down for while, letting it cool.
Koki wrapped his hands around his cup, warming his frozen fingers, the heat regulating his blood flow.
“How’s your song progressing?” he asked, albeit without tearing his gaze away from the surface of the black liquid.
Ueda propped his chin on his palm and stared outside. “Not much. What about you?”
“Not much.”
They didn’t always talk much, but they had quite a handful of similarities. Kamenashi regarded them as the most mysterious of the group, and they had an 'image', and for a long time, they thought of each other that way too. And they didn’t really bother trying to bridge the gap, because they were comfortable just the way they were. Koki wasn’t interested in investigating or nosing into Ueda’s private life, but what he knew was that they conversed quite a lot behind the cameras.
“What do you think of the rain?” Ueda asked out of the blue, breaking the short termed silence.
Koki followed his penetrating gaze outside.
“I think it’s troublesome.” A pause. “But it’s magical in its own way. Its mood fluctuates, and when it’s really crying, bawling its contents out, I don’t really assume the sky is sad.” The edge of his lips twitched upwards. “It’s just giving a chance for the clouds to express themselves.”
He shifted his eyes and looked at Ueda, raising his eyebrows when the latter returned his gaze.
Ueda simply smiled, and lifted his cup of coffee. “I think so too.” A pause for effect. “More or less of what you just said,” then took a gulp.
“Good to hear that, then.”
Before setting outside, Ueda glimpsed at Koki, then focused on opening his umbrella. “So,” Koki looked up and waited for Ueda to finish his sentence. “You wanna share?”
Koki grinned and took the umbrella out of Ueda’s hand. “I’ll hold it up.”
