[Fox is still out and about investigating, putting all of his nifty equipment to good use as he's dealing with the recent appearance of the monsters. When he finally takes a break, it's to catch up with things in general as well as family.]This might sound like a weird idea, but has anyone managed to capture or otherwise contain one of those beasts ( Read more... )

Studying one of these creatures would be desirable, but the risks outweigh the benefits, right now.

Yeah, that was why I had a feeling I'd get a lot of "what the hell are you thinking?" answers, or at least a lot of "no." Have you noticed anything unusual about any you might have encountered?

Not in particular. [They still die when they scare her daughter. Period.]

Hm, I wonder if they're even connected at all to the dreams, in that case... It would mean we're experiencing two shifts simultaneously if they're not, which seems unlikely.

I...recently managed to come into possession of a corpse, yes.

But I'm afraid it's not in the best condition.

Good condition or not, I'd be interested in what you've observed. And in having a good look at it, for the record.

[It's times like this he almost wishes some of his dreams would come true. There was this redheaded woman who was apparently really awesome at examining corpses.]

Can you stop by Building 7, then?

Building 7, got it. I'll be by in a few.

[Fox won't miss out on he chance to see one of these things up close. Close...r than he's managed so far with his own attempts.]

....you are keeping track?

I was curious on making a history of them, myself. To find patterns.

Yeah, ever since- well- it's been a few years now, that I've been observing the shifts closely and keeping them on file. Patterns are exactly what I'm looking for. This latest one, though, it's really throwing me off.

Would you be interested in an assistant, perhaps?

...and yes, this shift was curious, indeed.

[Funny she'd say that... he keeps dreaming that he'd worked with someone, in some far off nonexistent world.]

If you don't mind that there's one more along in the mix. My younger brother Jonathan and I have been doing a lot of the work together throughout the years. But I'm definitely interested in getting another perspective on things. Especially after this latest one.

I had three under my custody. All dead sadly, after a little training session.

My squad was studying them.

[It's sounding more and more like a farfetched hope, to take even one them alive.]

What have you and your squad observed so far? Anything especially striking about them?

They don't respond well to being captured. Unless we attack them, they would rather focus on escaping than deal with us.

Some were struggling so much, they were practically killing themselves trying to get away.

That's exactly the behavior that I'm curious about. It seems very strange and suggests that they're more than mindless killers, if anything. If we could only determine their goal... then maybe we could figure out a better way to deal with them.

You're only going to examine the dead ones right?

the alive ones are kind of. You know. [TERRIFYING. D:]

Andrew's with me! [At least I am assuming so because I think Shikki's unexpectedly RP-dead right now.] We're staking out that empty house -- nobody's claimed it all week! I think we can start getting your stuff in here without worrying about getting caught.

You know. When you want to! [Hopefully when you're done messing around with those giant growly scary animals. Please don't lose your nose or anything. D:]

[He's mostly running around the woods like a dork and trying to make observations. And maybe to catch one with a lasso, but that hasn't gone well. BECAUSE IF IT'S DANGEROUS FOX WANTS TO PLAY WITH IT. >.>]

That's a relief! [And no problem, I didn't want to leave him out even so!] I'll haul over some things right away in that case.

...and to think I almost got ahold of one too. You know, we could have kept it as a pet, named it 'Fluffy'... [Totally kidding, promise.]

[Oh big brother, why so badass? That's a really awesome visual, even if the very idea is enough to make him want to pee himself a little.]

Sounds great!

We. Could always get a different kind of Fluffy, you know. Maybe something that's--like-- actually fluffy? [He suspects as much but THOSE THINGS ARE REALLY SCARY. D:]

[He tries his hardest at badassery, anyway, though his attempts at actually restraining one of the beasts have so far failed. Maybe he just needs more rope. And cowboy lessons.]

You mean a big hellbeast doesn't appeal to you? We could teach it tricks...
