[Now he's had more time to practice filters, he's trying one out. He's sure this matter has been brought up before at some point in time anyhow, so it's not like it's too sensitive. But he has to ask, since it seems like people never discuss it. At the moment, Mulder can be seen holding a small handheld mirror and ( Read more... )

[Oh, Mulder. Giles would almost give you a round of applause. As it is, he's just...going to laugh. A lot.]

And let's not forget the security staff. Impolite and uncooperative as anything.

[It's pretty much all one can do sometimes when a situation is so beyond crazy like this... laugh at it.]

And they always have such terrible timing. Management should seriously think about giving them some time off. Permanently.

Yes, I hear the scrapyards are just lovely this time of year.

[Yes, he's still blind. Yes, he can barely keep his eyes open in a dim room. Laughter, amidst all this insanity, really is the best medicine. That was one good lesson he managed to take away from Sunnydale.]

And I bet some of them would find enlightenment through finding new purposes in life... say, as toasters or vacuum cleaners.

[And that's next on Mulder's mind as well, speaking of their droid 'friends.']

...How are you doing, by the way?

I've performed a few readings with my tricorder. I didn't get anything conclusive from it.

Tricorder!?

[Ahem. Excuse him a moment, he's always been a bit of a Trek fan growing up. But Mulder has gotten used to things around here at least, and the types of people who appear here.]

I think I may have heard of something like that before. That's a pretty good scanning device, isn't it? Hm... If that couldn't pick up anything definitive...

[ McCoy's fervently hoping this isn't going to lead into a "you're a fictional character" conversation. it's somewhat of a mood dampener. ]

One of the best. It's been outfitted with the latest technology, but it doesn't mean a damn thing in a world as advanced as this one and it makes sense it can't pick anything up.

I've always wanted one of those... [At least a couple months here has gotten Mulder used to things. Or there would be a lot more outwardly geeking out.]

Anyway. It's frustrating, when their technology corresponds to nothing else, on any other world. Still, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. The tricorder probably doesn't pick up much during experiments, either?

You're the second person who's mentioned Disneyworld here... Wonder if it's anything like Disney Town.

I'm not surprised, considering there seem to be others from the same place that has it. But what's Disney Town, the less heard of Canadian version?

Canadian?

[Blinkblink.]

No, Disney Town's one of the worlds I visited.

...Huh. So this is an entire world of its own? What's Disney Town like? Maybe we can have a little compare and contrast to the place I'm familiar with.

[Ignoring the sarcasm for one moment.]

...Disneyworld?

The so-called happiest place on earth. It's a park filled with rides and attractions. The kind of place people go on vacation, to unwind and enjoy themselves. Price of admission doesn't even include monthly experiments.

Ah. It sounds like Luceti Land, the amusement park they had here once. It was a nice break from experiments, but it hasn't been repeated so far.

Luceti Land?

[Oh what will they think of next.]

I'm surprised they did something so beneficial for the town here. Though of course, what wouldn't surprise me was if they had some hidden motive behind putting on such an event.

[Unaware of McCoy's reply, because he is a very polite hacker.]

I'm in possession of a tricorder and the barcodes don't emit any kind of signal that I can figure out how to read. But I'm sure it's there...

You have a tricorder? How did you come into possession of it, if you don't mind my asking? [He so needs to keep a closer eye on the shops! His AU-self had had all kinds of cool stuff along those lines, alas he does not.]

But I guess it's not surprising that it doesn't pick up the Malnosso-brand of technology. Theirs seems to be unlike anything else in any world, by all accounts. Still. The barcodes have to give off some kind of signal, and possibly store information as well...

Kind of a long story. I've been trying everything I can think of with it, but so far I can't pin down the frequency.

They're clever, they wouldn't let something get into our hands that could threaten their work in any way...

I take it that it can't pick up on anything to do with Shifts in general?
