I don't know how many of you actually read the Hendersonville newspaper...
but my dad passed away yesterday around 2:00 pm.

For many years he has been dealing with a blood disorder. Antiphospholipid syndrome. It causes the blood to clot and he had a particularly severe case. He had to be on heavy blood thinners all the time to keep the clots from causing minor strokes. Over time his brain had become kind of 'swiss-cheesed' with small, blood deprived sections.
He was visiting his family in Pensacola when he was injured in two household accidents. A hit to both the front and back of his midsection. The hits caused internal bleeding because of his thinned blood. As it coagulated it started to become very painful, so he came home and went to Pardee hospital. The pain became too severe for him to take deep breaths and he developed pneumonia. Over the next few days the pain in his stomach got worse and he became exhausted because of the constant shallow breathing. The difficulty eventually overcame him.
He refused to have machines breath for him. Because of the thinned blood, a tube could have scratched his throat and caused his lungs to fill with blood. Also, the blood in his stomach was supposed to go somewhere, so even if he had overcome the pnumonia he would have faced a slew of digestive track problems. He chose correctly, it was his time and he was tired of struggling.

The memorial service will be held tomorrow at 3:00 pm at Hendersonville First Baptist Church. At 2:00 pm and after the service we are seeing visitors at the church.

I just thought you would all like to know what happened.
