Headaches are no fun- hope you feel better.

I'm thinking of doing some of the same trimming down on my own comm's. It's great that they're out there but they do manage to take over somehow, and I understand your frustrations with all the "dumb stuff" that gets posted. I think the majority of people in the comm's aren't interested in the dumb stuff, either, but are too polite to say anything (I am one of them).

Ultimately, it's the moderator(s) job to help prune some of those stupid posts out, but they too are under the pressure of just getting some content out on their communities.

I can see both sides of that coin, but yeah I would just rather focus on what I'm interested in and try to avoid missing posts from friends because I just scrolled too quickly. :P

I can see a number of things that should be done to help reduce/eliminate this problem:
1. Communities should mandate tagging of posts.
2. Ability in LJ to modify settings for friended communities to only show entries with particular tags.

Those are good ideas despite the fact I hate tags. I would think being able to exclude posts with certain tags would be more helpful. You should put that idea up to the LJ crew!
