Is it possible for a UF alum (finished a bachelors in 2010) to take undergraduate classes at UF as a non degree-seeking student? I emailed an advisor and the answer I got was essentially "not really but come in if you want to talk about it." I can't go to academic advising due to work schedule, hoping someone on here knows one way or the other.

It does indeed help! You hit the nail on the head, I want to take prereqs for med school.
If anyone has more information about applying as a post bac, please chime in.

I work in UF COM admissions, so I can help you with this.

You have to fill out an application as a non-degree seeking student. On that application, they ask why--you say something about med school. Then it has to get approved (usually does for that reason as long as you graduated in good standing--if you sucked, they will say no.). Also--you will be the LAST person to register, as non-degree seeking I believe you can only register during drop-add.

I think they have a limit on how many classes and semesters you can attend.

Phone number for UF's grad school is 392-6622, for regular admissions is 392-1365. And if you have med-school prereq specific questions, call us: 273-7990.

Thank you so much for responding! I'm sure you deal with annoying questions all the time, so I apologize in advance, but I am confused. This is an email I got from academic advising:
Hi Kara,
You can still meet with a pre-health advisor via walk-in advising, but unfortunately UF does not allow students to take the pre-health prerequisites if they have already earned a bachelor’s degree (we don’t allow any post-bac work unless you are in a graduate program).

Originally I sent an email asking if I could take the pre-med requirements as a non degree seeking student and they just said "no."

So you're saying that is wrong and I can take classes as a non degree seeking student providing that my application gets approved?

I successfully battled the institution twice. Once, in undergrad when I (as a transfer student this is 'impossible') petitioned to change majors and again when I wanted to take postbacc classes.

You already seem to have gathered plenty of information but if you do have any questions, feel free to dispatch a missive. Key is getting the appropriate department faculty to sign your form and help you petition.
