I miss the days when you could turn on the TV to the discovery channel or whatever and actually leran things, other than what shape skirt to wear with a leisure jacket and a scarf.

Just now I went on discovery.com, and looked up anthropology in the schedule. It came back with no results.

You still learn things. Like, for example, how to turn the TV off. ;)

My TV seems to be purely a DVD-display, nowdays; though I'll sometimes watch the Antiques Roadshow. (The British one, mind -- the US one makes me want to throw footware at people, and I'm not sure why. Maybe because because the British one people seem to be focused on the history, but the American one is much more about the How Much -- damn you, little treasure box icon! Or maybe it's because the British one tends to have more interesting stuff, with Victorian sewing chests and Roman glass.)

The solution, of course, is to go into television, and create shows worth watching. ;)

There was recently an Antiques Roadshow type-thing in town here... my mother, who collects junk for fun from second hand stores across the country, brought in three prints. In total, they cost her $20. Imagine our surprise when they're collectively worth $2000+.

I mainly watch Antiques Roadshow for the crazy accents, so the American one does nothing for me. Although it funny, watching the people on there pretend to listen politely while really wanting to get the appraisal and get the hell out of there. Some of them very nearly burst.

Gone are the days when Carcharodon megalodon would haunt my dreams.
