I wasn't talking about torture as a "sick desire" I was referring to Government sanctioned illegal interrogation techniques, like telling someone you're going to drown them if they don't give you information or denying food/sleep/medical attention for a significant amount of time. These things are illegal and the federal government is seeking to redefine their committment to the Geneva convention by making them legal (and committing war crimes). I'm not talking about isolated incidents which obviously should be avoided but will happen anyway, I'm talking about government sanctioned and approved torture.

Totally, I mean, a guy whispers something in my ear, I'm putty... we should just try teasing terrorists into releasing information...
I'm not completely sure if I'm kidding or not.

While I was not there for this conversation and don't know the full context, nor am I accusing you of supporting torture in any way...I just feel the need to point out that you can defend just about any number of horrible things with: "but it's just human nature. it sucks and i personally think it's horrible but it's not going to go away." Such a thing might be true but does that necessarily mean that horrible things should be accepted, ignored, or even supported without a fight from anyone just because "it's just the way things are"?? I don't know, and don't get me wrong it's a tricky question...but I myself like to hope that though human nature might never change, it can at least be kept in check by other positive things which are also parts of human nature, such as compassion, conscience, and love (cheesy as that sounds). I mean there have been things that we have overcome. For a long time slavery was legal and practiced in this country, and maybe if people had continued to say "well it's just man's nature to enslave other ( ... )

lmao, too busy not caring the read coments and understand post. but i will say this. i'd hate to be tortured pain does not sit over well with me. i'm with u unless it meant saving whole god damn world and not some random island or something i'd spill. sure not everyone is going to talk without the pain. but man some feathers and martha stewart on rerun i'd crack in under an hour. so to conclude we can't help that some people are wacked or challenged and want to hurt others we can help that we don't hurt other people. have you past a smile on today?
