for every absolutely wonderful thing (which there is currently an abundance of), there is always something depressing to ruin it. whether to acknowledge them or not is what separates the exceptionally positive thinkers from the normal ones. id like to think i can stay posi all the time, but there are some things that kill me ( Read more... )

i always thought learning was cool.
few share the sentiment though.
i make fun of teachers all the time but normally they're the exact opposite of the one you were defending.
it's a shame people don't learn to better themselves and everything is so pragmatically structured. open brain, deposit facts, probe brain to see if they're still there, no thinking.

I don't believe that people necessarily think that the $40,000 school that their parents pay for will be smooth sailing, but the focus placed on it is incredibly warped -

obsess over college in high school
obsess over first job in college
obsess over second job in first job
obsess over retirement in umpteenth job
obsess over living longer in retirement

And somewhere along the line, we're expected to make ourselves happy.

It's tough stuff.
