The package has not arrived yet today, and apparently won't be. I am totally screwed. Chip is stuck in her travel cage and I am out $300. I am furious.
Here is what i just sent FedEx:
Dear Sir or Madam,
My package went out initially with an incorrect address.
On the 15th, the shipper corrected the address (in Corvallis, OR).
On the 16th, I called FedEx to ask why my package hadn't arrived. The male rep said that the new label had just been printed after the package had gone out that morning. He stated clearly that it would be delivered to me, at the correct address, in Corvallis, OR, definitely on Monday the 19th. That was inconvenient but I said I'd make it work. I emphasized that it was important to get it soon as I was about to start school, and I would be unavailable weekdays to receive packages. Also, I would not be able to pick up the package from a center, as it was too heavy and would not fit in my car. He reassured me that it would come to Corvallis, on Monday. I told him he had made my day.
On the 19th, I woke early and later saw, via online tracking, that delivery for my package had been attempted, and the destination still said 'Portland' (incorrect). I called right away, and a male representative said that delivery had been attempted at the incorrect address that day. He had no record of any Corvallis (correct) address in his system. I told him the correct address and emphasized that I needed the package right away. He said the label had been changed.
About an hour later, I became suspicious, as the destination had still not been changed in the online tracking system. So I called FedEx again. A male rep told me that the address was indeed correct (Corvallis), and that it would be delivered Wednesday. I told him that I could not be here any day after Tuesday, and he reassured me that the package would be delivered to my address, in Corvallis, on Tuesday the 20th. I explained that I can't be here on any weekday to receive it after Tuesday, and I can't come pick it up at a center myself. He took my phone number in case there were any problems.
Today (Tuesday the 20th) I woke early, and after not getting a package for a while, looked at online tracking. It said "cannot locate recipient." Destination was still listed as Portland (incorrect). I called FedEx at 10:15 and spoke with a female representative. She went on to state that, because the shipper required an adult signature, the package couldn't be re-routed. I pointed out that I am an adult, at the correct address, and she just said "I know." She told me that my only option was to come get it at a FedEx center. I told her how no one else had told me this, how I was unable to go to a FedEx center to pick it up. She said she was sorry.
I regret that I did not get the names of the representatives I spoke to, as they always mumbled them unintelligibly at the start of the conversation.
I am unable to be home on any other weekday to receive this package. Today, Tuesday the 20th, is the last day. I cannot pick it up at a FedEx location. The package is too heavy for me to safely carry alone, it will not fit in my car, and my mandatory orientation for veterinary school starts tomorrow, Wednesday the 21st, early in the morning, and continues all day, every day, until the weekend. After that, I am in class all day, every day.
This package is a cage that cost several hundred dollars, which I had saved up for months to get. With all the reassurances I had received prior to speaking to the final representative, I threw away my animal's old cage last night, (Monday the 19th). My animal is now stuck in a very small travel cage and I have no time to go buy a decent one for her. She is a sugar glider and suitable cages cannot be purchased at most retail pet stores.
This is terrible customer service. I was deceived several times. Both by assuring me delivery on a certain day, in Corvallis, and apparently by telling me the shipping address could be changed at all, according to this last representative.
If this cage can be delivered, to my address in Corvallis, this weekend, let me know and make it so. If not, I will be unable to go pick it up at a center. It is not feasible for me to rent a Uhaul, drive hours to Portland (or anywhere), hire strangers to carry my package around, and drive back. That is cost prohibitive.
If your company intends to do anything to make this right, please contact me (and the shipper, at their convenience), with a reply that is not prefabricated and generic.

-I cannot come pick it up, not in Corvallis or Portland. It is too big and too heavy. Please do not reiterate that as an option to me, it is not an option.
