I don't want to sound cliche, but I really can't believe it's been 5 years. I was a student (yeah, still) at the U of M, sitting in Algebra class on that day, and I am absolutely humiliated to say that I didn't even know what the World Trade Center was when a guy in my class leaned over and said, "Did you hear what happened??" 2001 was a personal turning-point year in my life; after years of heading down a self-destructive downhill path all hell broke loose and every type of manure hit the fan, and I've spent the past five years rebuilding my life since then. As tragic as 9/11 was, it took place during a positive time in my life as I had not long ago addressed said personal issues and was finally starting to take the needed steps and therefore had a much higher self-esteem than I'd had in years.
