It's so hard to be sympathetic in a world where people do the stupidest things possible and expect your sympathy when they suffer the consequences. sympathy: n. 1.) agreement in feeling, as between persons 2.) harmony of taste, opinion, or disposition 3.) the ability to share the feelings of another esp. in sorrow or trouble 4.) an expression of compassion
I do believe that Jesus was both compassionate and sympathetic. They go hand in hand. Even in their definitions, sympathy is in the definition for compassion, and vice versa. It makes sense. I don't think you can feel sympathy towards another unless you are a compassionate person to begin with.
