SPN - 'swan song' review

i had to watch it twice, but i decided that i liked it.  a lot.  i thought it was a very fitting end.  after all, sam is right - he did let lucifer out, he was responsible for putting him back in, even if it meant sacrificing himself.

the chuck narrative worked for me, and i liked that the impala helped save the world.  and chuck is god!  didn't see that one coming, but i kind of like the idea that he was right there and actually was helping all along (while not interfering with that pesky free will thing), especially by telling dean where the showdown was happening.

loved a lot of the little moments in this ep, like sam asking dean not to watch him drink the demon blood, bobby telling sam to fight like hell and not to give an inch, and poor socially awkward castiel's "oh, i was supposed to lie!" and his terrible attempt to.

that scene where lucifer is beating the hell out of dean and dean keeps telling sammy that he's here and won't leave him totally killed me. dean's job has always been to take care of sammy and he did, to the very end, even as he was being beaten to death. he wasn't going to leave his brother alone, and that just made me love dean even more.

sam taking michael with him?  awesome.  the angels have proven to be just as bad as the demons.

the one complaint i had is the same one i had after '99 problems' - the whole lisa thing just seems so unrealistic.  they had a weekend together years ago, dean saved her from monsters, and dean shows up years later and lisa wants to take him in?  i like the idea that dean had a port in the storm after all that heartbreak, but wtf, writers?  i mean, why not cassie?  or that chick from 'monster movie'?  build it up a little next time, will ya?

i wonder if that was actually sam at the end.  we see the streetlight die out, which is typically a signal of demonic presence.  is it sam?  is it lucifer?  is it both of them? *frets*
